Break the Rule Avoid Mistakes using innovation challenge #7.
Take the Exit
You've had it happen.
You're on the highway, trying to get someplace in your car, and you're not sure of the directions.
There's an upcoming exit which might be yours, but you're not sure, so you drive past the exit and hope it's the next one — otherwise you've missed your turn.
What is it that causes us to hesitate to take an exit?
What's the "mistake" we think we might be making, and how irrevocable could it be?
This challenge is to pay attention throughout your day to the opportunities you have to depart from a standard and familiar course, and to "exit" at a new location.
It might simply be a corridor you've never walked down at your place of business.
It could be a receptionist or doorman you usually ignore when you could exit your routine to say hello.
It could be a meeting you feel obligated to be involved with that you simply excuse yourself from half way through.
Look at the flow of your day today and consider hopping off the highway of an old habit in favor of a new destination.
Yes, it could be a mistake.
It also could turn out to be the best mistake of your life.
Make Break a Rule an incredible tool for everyone.
